As a teacher, I find that I am always looking for ideas to implement into my classroom. Do you find yourself always looking for new ideas and activities for your students? I have been thinking about creating a blog to help me document my ideas for each theme from week to week for some time but it was not until today that I actually sat down to create one. As a teacher who has been out of school for a while I am always looking at other teachers websites for ideas. Some of these ideas work and some of them don’t. I want a place for me to go to not only share my ideas but to also share what has worked in my room. I also would love your input on things and for you all to share what is happening in your classroom. What are some of your favorite activities or themes in your Preschool or Pre-Kindergarten classroom?
One of my favorite themes to teach is Dr. Seuss. All week, we focus on reading and Dr. Seuss. I have parents and teachers come in all week to read. To end the week, the students and teachers of Pre-Kindergarten come to school dressed as their favorite Seuss character. My assistant and I have dressed at the Cat in the Hat, the Quick Queen of Quincy, The Grinch, and Thing One and Thing Two. This year, we are still thinking of ideas for the day. We celebrate the life of Dr. Seuss during the first week of March.
